DRIVING ON SUSPENDED LICENSE

It is never recommended to drive on a suspended license following a Vista DUI arrest. Driving on a suspended license could result in mandatory installation of an ignition interlock device on your vehicle. An ignition interlock device will require the driver of the vehicle to blow into the device prior to starting the car. The vehicle will not start if the driver blows above a certain BAC. While this in itself is a considerable inconvenience it is also extremely costly.

Other punishments of driving on a suspended license following an arrest for a Vista DUI could be mandatory jail time since it is a violation of probation. Or you could lose your license for 2 to 4 years if the circumstances of the case warrant.

30 days after a hard suspension for a first offense Vista DUI you are eligible for a restricted license if you can show proof of enrollment in an AB 541 alcohol treatment program, pay $125 reissue fee and show proof of insurance. This restricted license will allow you to drive to and from work or during the course of your employment as well as to and from an alcohol treatment program. Applying for a restricted license is much preferred to driving on a suspended license since the penalties of being caught driving on a suspended license are very serious.

A Vista DUI defense lawyer will be able to assist you in receiving a restricted license and will be able to assist you if you are caught driving on a suspended license. Again, it is never recommended to drive if your license has been suspended due to a Vista DUI. If you do get caught driving on a suspended license you could go to jail, have your car impounded for up to 30 days and have a myriad of fines.
